By John WiegleyOregon City’s most prominent property management company, the CBL, is in the midst of a turnaround.
Its flagship Portland property management agency, CBL Property Management, said Monday it has completed a $5.7 million expansion and will add 100 new jobs, including 40 in its Portland headquarters.CEO Peter Boulter, in an interview with Portland Business Journal, said CBL has been on the rise in Portland since the company was founded more than 10 years ago.
He said the company is a “game changer” and that he is confident the company will be able to continue to grow as Portlanders’ interests shift.
“It’s an industry that’s been very stagnant and hasn’t really really changed for a long time,” Boulters said.
“I think that is going to change in the next couple of years.”
The CBL is a subsidiary of The Oregonian, which owns the Portland Press-Herald, the Portland Independent and the Oregonian.
The company has a strong footprint in the Portland metro area.
Its headquarters are in Portland’s historic Pioneer Courthouse Square, which has been home to the newspaper since 1869.
The company employs nearly 200 people.
Boulters and CBL’s chief executive, Paul Hays, are both veterans of the industry.
Hays, who has been at CBL for seven years, was previously the executive vice president of the Cabela’s chain of specialty stores.
He said the new CBL headquarters will give him the ability to hire more people and grow CBL.
“We’re really excited to be able add a lot of people,” Hays said.
