Austin: Tax evasion tax scam charges hit home

HARRISBURG, Pa.

(AP) Authorities say a property tax scam that used camels to pay taxes and dodge penalties is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities say a business called Rottweiler Ranch LLC is responsible for a property assessment scam in which camels are used to pay for taxes and fees.

The property is being assessed at $2 million in Texas, according to the Harris County Tax Collector’s office.

It’s not known if any of the camels used to collect the taxes are being used for any other purposes.

Authorities believe Rottwiler Ranch is operating illegally in Texas.

They say they have a warrant out for its arrest.

Rottweilers are a large breed of sheep that is not native to Texas and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds.

It is the most popular breed of cattle in the U.S., with 1.8 million in North America alone.
